MMO - Vessel Monitoring System Hub

The VMS Hub acts as the central repository for positions received from UK commercial fishing vessels and foreign vessel in UK waters. The service is bespoke UK functionality developed from a largely off-the-shelf marine tracking system. The system is used by the England fishing authority and the devolved administrations and crown dependencies of the UK. MMO is the lead authority in commissioning this service. This service is essential under withdrawal agreements aligning to EC regulation 2004/2009 and implementing regulations 404/2011 and the statutory instruments set up for this when the UK was within EU. The current contract is in Termination Assistance to help with contract exit and transition. A separate exercise led by DgC last year to progress relet of the contract from January 2025 failed to award a contract.
