Gwent Regional Advocacy service for children and young people who are looked after - the Active Offer of Advocacy and issue-based advocacy support.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has awarded a contract worth £1.5 million to the National Advocacy Youth Service (NYAS) for a 12-month interim period to provide independent advocacy services for children and young people who are looked after across the Gwent region, including active offer advocacy, issue-based advocacy, independent visiting services, and parent advocacy. The direct award is temporary to ensure service continuity while Welsh Government and local authorities develop a national advocacy framework for Wales and update commissioning guidance. The council plans to undertake a competitive procurement for this essential statutory service in the future, either on a Gwent regional or wider national basis.
