National Highways Limited has awarded a contract to WSP UK Ltd for £750,000 to provide specialist technical support and design assurance services to Active Travel England, ensuring walking, wheeling and cycling schemes across England are independently reviewed and inspected against national design and accessibility standards. The three-year contract covers assessment of hundreds of transport schemes, major planning applications and local development plans to identify design issues early, improve public safety and accessibility, and reduce remediation costs. The service will strengthen Active Travel England's ability to influence new developments and ensure they provide safe and inclusive facilities while supporting timely delivery of active travel infrastructure.
