Overview

An integral part of the Chief Data Office, Data Governance & Assurance are responsible for establishing and maintaining the policies, procedures, and standards for managing our data and information. Our primary purpose is ensuring that our data governance framework is embedded and adhered to across the organisation, as well as ensuring we follow our regulatory, industry standards and legal obligations. We promote a culture of data governance and awareness, fostering accountability for data governance by having clear data roles and responsibilities. Data Governance & Assurance play a crucial role in helping the organisation manage its data as one of our most important and valuable assets, and that data needs to be fit for purpose. We also have joint accountability with Cyber Security for our Artificial Intelligence Governance Strategy, by implementing a framework to ensure that the adoption of Artificial Intelligence solutions and the use of generative Artificial Intelligence tools is carried out safely and responsibly, with a focus on security, ethical and legal considerations. We intend to roll out and embed several service offerings within the business, as well as leading on Records Management Assurance and embed the framework around Responsible & Ethical Artificial Intelligence: - Data specification and standards as a service - enabling the business to define the data they need and their performance requirements. - Data condition as a service - measuring fitness for purpose against business defined standards. - Governance service design & integration - implementing a data operating model within the business operating model. - Data Comms and change management services - what changes are required and how do we communicate them. - Business engagement and demand management - capturing the capabilities the business needs and shaping demand. - Data monitoring as a service - measuring data performance. - Accountable for Responsible Artificial Intelligence / Ethics Framework - Accountable for Records Management Assurance
