Implementation of the Water Framework Directive - Policy Coherence, Managing Trade-Offs, Financing and Capacity

Tipperary County Council commissioned research to evaluate water governance in Ireland across four OECD principles—policy coherence, managing trade-offs, financing, and capacity—to inform the development of Ireland's fourth cycle River Basin Management Plan under the Water Framework Directive. The research was awarded to Arup for €32,500 on 28 April 2026 and involved identifying obstacles to WFD implementation in Ireland and developing policy recommendations with reference to international case studies.
