Forsvaret har behov for at anskaffe 292 styk Aimpoint FCS14 (FCS – Fire Control System) til forsvarets nyanskaffede dysekanoner (CG M4) samt til granatkastermaskingevær (GMG) og medium maskingeværer (MMG) til anvendelse bredt i forsvaret og hjemmeværnet. Anskaffelsen relaterer sig til styrkelse og varetagelse af Danmarks forsvarsevne. Tidsplanen for den ønskede udlevering af CG M4 i den aktuelle geopolitiske situation gør, at der ikke er tid til at gennemføre evt. udbud på materiellet. Anskaffelsen har en række af unikke funktioner der bidrager skytteholdets højere træfsikkerhed, og derigennem personelsikkerhed. Behovet for anskaffelsen er et resultat af den nuværende krisesituation i Ukraine og den deraf afledte skærpede trussel mod Danmark og NATO, og vedrører styrkelse af Danmarks forsvarsevne. Der kan derfor ikke afventes aftaleindgåelse via et udbud (herunder ved brug af hasteproceduren).
