What this covers

  • Ultrasound aspirators for the Surgical Clinic at St. Olavs Hospital.

The objective and extent of the procurement is to enter into a procurement contract for 2 units. Ultrasound aspirators for the Surgical Surgical Department, section upper gastro at the Surgical Clinic c/o St. Olavs Hospital, as well as the accompanying framework agreement for equipment dependent consumables. The department operates approx. 70-80 patients with cancer in their livers each year. They currently have 2 generators with the accompanying multi-use equipment, 2 ultrasound spirators for open surgery and 2 for laparoscopic surgery. The ultrasound aspirators shall cover the following described needs, as well as the requirements described in the attached requirement specification: The shall be replaced is SonoSurg, which currently is used for liver resection to remove liver tissue in a precise and gentle way. It works by having a high frequency ultrasound probe vibrate with a frequency of approx. 23-35 kHz. This leads to mechanical fragmentation of hepatocytes (liver cells), whilst stronger structures such as blood vessels and bile ducts remain intact. SonoSurg has a built-in suction function that removes destructed tissue and provides better visibility during the procedure. This makes it possible to distinguish between blood vessels and gall passages, which are not destroyed by SonoSurg. The system also sprays fluid into the surgical area to reduce heat development and to minimise tissue damage. See the Requirement Specifications and the Price Form for further details.
