Overview
IDA previously carried out a review of the options for flood alleviation at the National Technology Park NTP Limerick. The purpose of the review was to examine viable options to minimise the risk of ingress of flood waters to NTP from the Shannon and Mulcair and manage flood water arising from surface water run off within the park during river flood pluvial flooding. A new flood defence is necessary because the existing flood defence berm provides an insufficient level of protection and currently allows for water seepage beneath the berm through extensive granular soils. There is an existing boundary fence associated with a client’s facility to the east of the site And this fence will be relocated further to the south to facilitate the construction of the flood defence. Due to environmental constraints identified on the Mulkear River spawning lamprey it is proposed to remove existing stormwater outfalls from the site along the Mulkear River and create a new stormwater drainage network with attenuation ponds and treatment draining to the River Shannon through the existing outfall. The Project Management led Multi-Disciplinary Team should consist of suitably qualified and experienced resources including a Project Manager, Civil, Structural and Design Engineers, Quantity Surveyor, Employer’s Representative, PSDP, Assigned Certifier, Third Party co-ordinator, Ecologist and any relevant specialist advisors to provide design, planning and implementation of all subsequent contracts for the provision of the project. The scope of services for the Project Management Led Multi-Disciplinary Design Team will include if required completion of Stage 1 Planning Permission queries 2 Post Planning Submission and Detailed Design 3 Procurement and Assessment of Works Contractor 4 Construction and 5 Handover. A multi-disciplinary Technical Resource Resident Engineer will be required to be procured by the appointed Design Team and a separate appointment will be made for this.
