Specialfastigheter Sverige AB has awarded a capacity expansion project at Umeå prison facility (approximately 150 inmate capacity, security class 2) to a consortium of five contractors: NCC Sverige AB, Peab Sverige AB, Rekab Entreprenad AB, Skanska Sverige AB, and WERKAB Entreprenad AB for 300 million SEK. The scope includes renovation and modernization of three existing buildings (approximately 2,500–2,700 square meters), completion of two modular buildings with roof upgrades and district heating connections, demolition and reconstruction of storage facilities (approximately 550 square meters), construction of a large kitchen facility (approximately 1,000 square meters), new switchgear building with backup power, and associated site infrastructure and fencing, with approximately 1,600 square meters of new construction and 5,000 square meters of renovation planned.
