Deliver a high-quality, visionary Masterplan for the site known as Smiths Field, and the development of a detailed Part 8 design proposal to meet the needs of the community in Mountmellick, Co. Laois

Laois County Council has awarded a contract worth €49,800 to develop a comprehensive masterplan for Smiths Field in Mountmellick and administer a Part 8 planning process for the preferred development option. The urban landscape-led design team will assess pedestrian connectivity options between the site and town center, integrate active travel measures, and create sustainable open spaces incorporating biodiversity and climate resilience features while complementing adjacent social housing, sports facility upgrades, and existing footpath infrastructure. The masterplan will strengthen the town's green space network and enhance public amenities in the town center while respecting River Owenass SAC conservation objectives.
