Overview

Loughs Agency requires the services of a qualified and competent provider to undertake the development of a shellfish mapping and ecological modelling system for Lough Foyle. This model is necessary in order to protect and augment the biological integrity of the native oyster in Lough Foyle whilst simultaneously enhancing the socio-economic status of the fishery and retaining it for posterity. Loughs Agency will use these models to facilitate the conservation of O. edulis for its biological and socio-economic value to Lough Foyle. The objectives of this project are to promote sustainable wild shellfisheries based on best scientific information to ensure a balance between economic and environmental considerations.
