The site is at the former Magdalene Laundry at Sean Mac Dermott Street Dublin 1. It is located between Sean Mac Dermott Street Lower to the north, Railway Street to the south, Gloucester Place Lower to the west, and Buckingham Street Lower to the east. The ground investigation is required as part of the proposed redevelopment of the site. Its primary objective is to understand the ground and groundwater conditions across the site. It will consist of boreholes (cable percussive , resonance (sonic) rota-sonic drilling, rotary coring and window sampling), trial pits, foundation inspection pits and dynamic probes. Soil and rock samples are required from the boreholes and trial pits for geotechnical, geochemical and geoenvironmental testing. The buildings on the development site development site are currently unoccupied. The unoccupied buildings include the Convent, the dormitory wing, the chapel, and the dispensary building. The development site also includes a surface car parking to the east which is currently used by Dublin City Council. The façade of Scot’s Church also forms part of the site and is a listed / protected structure.
