Overview

The Environment Agency has signed a collaborative agreement with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust (YWT) worth £107,500 to improve buffer strips and burr reeds in a catchment through engagement and physical interventions. YWT will recruit a Farm Engagement Officer to build relationships with farmers, establish a sustainable farmer cluster, and develop examples of good practice for peer-to-peer learning, while the Agency will deliver complementary physical interventions on Beverley and Barmston Drain including de-silting and vegetation removal. The project aims to improve Water Framework Directive status, enhance habitats and water quality, and increase catchment resilience to extreme weather.
