The Food Standards Agency has awarded a contract worth £1,575,933.80 to Fera Science Ltd on 7 July 2026 for a research and evidence project to strengthen environmental surveillance capability for foodborne disease and antimicrobial resistance. The project will evaluate the feasibility, operational value, and cost-effectiveness of combining One Sample Many Analyses (OSMA) and On Site Diagnostic (OSD) approaches using existing environmental samples, through a structured phased programme to determine where these approaches provide added value compared to traditional single-organisation laboratory-based surveillance models.
