The Provision of Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) and related services

Royal Berkshire Fire Authority awarded a contract to British Telecommunications Public Limited Company on 7 June 2026 for £50,000 to provide continued Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) services as a continuation waiver. The service is essential to maintain the receipt of critical 999 emergency calls at the authority's control centre until migration to new digital technology is completed, as the legacy networks are being switched off industry-wide by 31 January 2027 and no other suppliers are offering these services.
