TfW Accessibility Modelling Tool

Transport for Wales awarded University of South Wales £100,000 on 21 May 2026 to develop an accessibility modelling tool that measures and quantifies access and opportunity provided by the Welsh transport network. The tool will include an algorithm and model for proximity and access-to-opportunity analysis of bus and rail networks, capable of processing industry standard network files, along with a minimum viable product prototype interface. The direct award was justified under the Procurement Act 2023 as a prototype development requiring specialist academic expertise.
