Overview

NPL Management Limited is procuring a Stage 1 design study for a high-precision motion control stage mounted on a structural beam with an operating envelope exceeding 2.3 metres and two integrated carriages for use in a Dimensional Metrology Instrument. The system must achieve nanometre-scale positioning accuracy, support a 20-year operational life, include integrated cable management and control systems, and meet UKCA marking requirements. Subject to Stage 1 evaluation, NPL intends to award the design contract to up to two suppliers, with Stage 2 implementation to follow.
