Overview

The Ministry of Justice has awarded a direct award concession contract to British Telecommunications Limited on 6 September 2026 to continue providing prisoner telephony services (PTS) for prisons in England and Wales operated by HM Prison and Probation Service. The contract, known as the Bridging Agreement, extends from 1 June 2027 to 30 November 2031 at a value of £94.62 million and will maintain existing voice call services while enabling transition to the next-generation Prisoner Integrated Communications Service (PICS).
