West Midlands Combined Authority awarded MITIE CLEANING & ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES LIMITED a contract valued at £34.76 million on 16 June 2026 to provide highway infrastructure cleaning services across the region's transport assets, including highways, bus stations, and park & ride sites. The scope encompasses cleaning operations, bus station and park & ride maintenance, timetable upkeep, and information placement, with the service provider required to operate from a base within 5 miles of the West Midlands border and deploy dedicated operatives, vehicles, and a smart mobile communication system compatible with TfWM's asset management systems. The contract incorporates sustainability requirements, including the use of low-emission vehicles, waste recycling, and green technologies.
