British Science Week 2026

Overview
This contract will deliver research into children’s views on the future, using the established British Science Week programme to engage children across the country and generate insights for the Government Office for Science’s Future of Childhood project. The work includes designing the engagement question and accompanying materials, enabling young people to meaningfully explore the topic, and commissioning a researcher to analyse and report on the submissions. While other suppliers could source and analyse children’s artwork, they would do so at a significantly smaller scale and at higher cost, resulting in lower-quality insights.
Given the limited market for this type of research, the British Science Association is the only organisation able to deliver the requirement at the necessary scale. As such, the use of Schedule 5, paragraph 5 of the Procurement Act 2023 is justified.
