Blackpool Borough Council has awarded a £250 million concession contract to HOCHTIEF DATA CENTRE PARTNER UK LTD to invest, develop and operate an exemplar data centre with ancillary office accommodation at the Silicon Sands site in the Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone, and to connect the data centre's heat to a local heat network. The project, which is now in delivery, aims to generate economic and social benefits including skilled employment, educational opportunities, and attraction of high-tech companies and investment to the region. The land will be made available on a 250-year lease.
