Langstone Coastal Defence Scheme

Havant Borough Council awarded a contract worth £14 million to Jackson Civil Engineering Ltd on 30 April 2026 for the construction of a 1 km flood and coastal defence scheme at Langstone, Havant, which will protect 53 residential and 4 business properties, critical infrastructure including the A3023 highway to Hayling Island, and heritage assets. The works, commencing 1 May 2026 and due for completion by 1 December 2030, comprise earth raising, flood embankments, reinforced concrete flood walls, sheet-piled walls, flood gates and demountable defences, delivered under an NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract with a target cost pain/gain share mechanism.
