Overview

NHS England is commissioning the National Specialist Medicines Service (NSMS) contract from 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2030, with a potential 12-month extension, valued at £36 million ex VAT. The contract, divided into five lots (Medicines Procurement, Quality Assurance, Medicines Optimisation, Safer Medicines Use, and Co-ordination), will deliver expert clinical quality assurance, cost-effective tools and processes, and strategic support to help the NHS optimize medicines use, safety, and value across local and national services. Tenderers may bid for any combination of lots and an additional £1 million per annum is available for optional ad hoc services subject to case-by-case approval.
