Orkney Islands Council has awarded a balance of plant contract worth £14.05 million to Heddle Construction Ltd for two community wind farm projects comprising 12 wind turbine generators (6 at Quanterness on Mainland Orkney and 6 at Faray in the North Isles), with operations scheduled to commence in June 2028 and May 2030 respectively. The contract covers civil works and infrastructure development for the 4.8 MW turbines at both sites, which have secured all necessary planning consent and grid connection agreements.
