Overview

Devon County Council and partner public sector organisations in the South West have established a de-icing salt framework agreement for 2025–2029, with five suppliers appointed across four lots (bulk salt, coated salt, brining salt, and bagged salt) to supply winter road maintenance requirements. The framework was awarded on 1 June 2025 to Compass Minerals UK, Mys Enterprise Ltd, NWT Supplies Ltd, Peacock Salt, and Salt Sales Co, with an estimated total value of £110 million. Future annual demands for 2026/27, 2027/28, and 2028/29 will be subject to mini competitions evaluated on price only.
