Benchtop Sequencing System

The University of Southampton procured a benchtop next-generation sequencing system from Illumina UK Limited for £78,216 to replace a discontinued short-read platform. The system must deliver up to 15 Gigabases of sequencing data per run with 50 million reads capacity, maintain compatibility with existing chemistries and analysis pipelines, and achieve per-base quality scores above Q30 across all sequencing runs for applications including amplicon and whole-genome sequencing. The award was completed on 16 June 2025 via a direct call-off from the LAB2010 NE Framework Lot 1.
