"Airlock" Output Checking System OCS Decision Engine Development Partner

UK Biobank has awarded a contract worth £2 million to Kainos Software Limited on 18 June 2026 to develop the Output Checking System (OCS) Decision Engine, which will automate the assessment of data egress requests to prevent inadvertent disclosure of participant information. The Decision Engine comprises two components: a Data Trust Engine to detect sensitive information and assign a disclosiveness score, and a Researcher Behaviour Engine to assess researcher credibility and assign confidence scores that inform Red/Amber/Green egress decisions. The solution will integrate with a new UKB-RAP platform planned for implementation in 2028.
