Palvelua on tarpeen hankkia, koska laki lääkinnällisistä laitteesta (719/2021) edellyttää vaatimusten mukaisen huollon toteutuksen. Huoltosopimus voidaan ottaa vain laitetoimittaja GE Healthcare Finland Oy:ltä. Palvelua hankitaan ajalle 1.10.2026–31.12.2026, minkä jälkeen sopimus jatkuu toistaiseksi voimassa olevana. Suorahankinnan perusteena on hankintalain 40 §:n 2 momentin 2 kohta: teknisestä syystä vain tietty toimittaja voi toteuttaa hankinnan; lisäedellytyksenä on, että järkeviä vaihtoehtoisia tai korvaavia ratkaisuja ei ole eikä kilpailun puuttuminen johdu hankinnan ehtojen keinotekoisesta kaventamisesta.
