Overview

The Department for Energy Security & Net Zero is seeking to commission a safety study on plug-in batteries (up to 800 W AC output) for UK domestic deployment. Phase 1 will evaluate existing products globally, assess electrical and fire safety risks, review relevant standards, conduct laboratory testing on 3-8 products, and recommend engineering controls and potential standard adaptations to ensure safe installation and use in UK homes.
