Academic Reflections from CCIP Group
- Published
- Published 23 March 2026
Overview
Delivered by the Met Office and funded by the International Security Fund (ISF), the Harmonics Programme will ensure that the UK government has the weather and climate evidence it needs to maintain national security as the climate changes.
One of the work packages for this Programme is producing 'Climate Storylines' to support UK Govt policy and decision making.
A summary of the product(s): The Climate Storylines for Security are a set of plausible, internally consistent narratives designed to help non-expert and government audiences explore how climate change impacts could unfold across different regions and security contexts. These storylines are not predictions, but tools to support stress testing, wargaming, and awareness-raising by illustrating key drivers and first-order impacts of climate hazards. They are intended to stimulate discussion, build shared understanding, and inform departmental exercises, rather than serve as direct evidence for policy or operational decisions.
The work package is commissioning academic reflections to support and enhance the 'so what' of these storylines, and the Climate Change & (In)Security Project (CCIP) is a group which can facilitate the authorship of multiple reflections.
