Overview

As a result of the new statutory waste legislation introduced by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Middlesbrough Council has purchased 13 new refuse vehicles for food waste and paper / card recycling collection services. This is a mandatory requirement, with new legislation coming into force in March 2026. In order to store and maintain and service these additional vehicles, it is necessary to expand the Cargo Fleet workshop into a vacant shed adjacent to the current workshop.
