Left shift analysis from Hospital to Community

Published
Published 2 December 2025

Overview

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust had previously completed related analytical work and had access to the necessary datasets. This decision was taken following an assessment that internal resources and capabilities were not appropriate to deliver this requirement. Two factors were particularly important for this analysis: 1. Analytical experience of segmentation; 2. Access to the necessary datasets. The Trust were uniquely positioned to provide these services based on this criteria. The work was to assess the opportunity to shift care left from hospital to community analysing it on a patient segmentation basis, to provide confidence in 10 year plan proposals, ensuring they are realistic.
