R064 - Walkabout Display Case Move
- Published
- Published 1 September 2025
Overview
Through funding due to be received in September 2025, from Arts Council England Museum Renewal Fund we have received funding to develop the business/offer at Captain Cook Birthplace Museum. The funding was made available to museums that has seen a significant reduction in funding/income over the previous 12 months and is considered at risk. Terms of the funding require work and spend to be complete by the end of January 2026 giving us a short period of time to complete several projects that the funding will cover. As part of this funding, we have received funds to move the 'Walkabout' gallery currently located off the learning space that is not accessible to the public to the 'Temporary Exhibition Space' which is located at the end of the main museum galleries. This move will make the exhibition accessible to the public and give many the opportunity to see the high quality exhibition that features a significant national interest collection of Aboriginal art, artefacts and Australian natural history.
