Overview

The Department for Education has awarded contracts under the Contracts for Innovation competition funded by Innovate UK to develop generative AI tools that support teachers with formative assessment and feedback. Six organisations—Corduroy Dinosaur Ltd, Kings College London, Kita Education Ltd, Learncycle Ltd, Lettingsowl Ltd, and Openkit Ltd—were selected to pilot, test, and validate prototype AI tools in education settings up to Technical Readiness Levels 7 and 8, building on Phase 1 work. The contracts, totalling £1,595,936.80, commenced in October 2025 and will conclude by 30 June 2026, and do not include commercial production or implementation of solutions.
