The Ministry of Defence has awarded a contract worth £3.56 million to Glasgow Prestwick Airport Limited for infrastructure upgrades to support the temporary relocation of the RAF's Voyager A330 refuelling tanker fleet during aerodrome resurfacing works at RAF Brize Norton as part of Project MACE. The scope includes low-level upgrades such as concrete jacking pads and Part 145 compliant hangarage to enable safe maintenance of seven aircraft at the facility over a 36-week period in summer 2026. The direct award was justified under the Procurement Act 2023 on grounds of single supplier availability and defence and security requirements, as Glasgow Prestwick Airport is the only facility capable of meeting the technical, security, and operational requirements within the required timeframe.
