The University of Warsaw has awarded a contract to Elsevier B.V. for domestic network access to electronic journals published by Elsevier on the Science Direct platform, including open publishing options for 2026, with an award value of 14,713,372 EUR dated 13 May 2026. The procurement was conducted through a direct award procedure due to Elsevier's exclusive rights over journal distribution and the lack of reasonable alternative sources, as verified by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling (ICM). The contract includes access to selected thematic journal collections, including the Cell collection designated by Poland's Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and open publishing services for Polish authors.
