Auf den Strecken 4550, 4551 und 4561 wird die veraltete Leit- und Sicherungstechnik durch moderne elektronische Stellwerke (ESTW) ersetzt, wodurch eine zentrale Bedienung mehrerer Betriebsstellen ermöglicht wird. In Los 1 betrifft dies den Abschnitt Bad Saulgau – Altshausen mit Blockanpassungen zu den Bahnhöfen Herbertingen und Aulendorf, während in Los 2 der Abschnitt Bad Waldsee – Roßberg inklusive Anpassungen der Bahnübergänge und der Blockanpassung zu Aulendorf und Kißlegg behandelt wird.
