Mid-infrared laser imaging microscope

The three research institutes (Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag), Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (Empa) and Agroscope) jointly operate a laboratory for microplastic analyses. In addition to dedicated and custom-made sampling devices for atmospheric deposition, drinking and surface waters, a ‘plastic-free’ laboratory and two focal plane array (FPA) Fourier Transform (FT) - Infared (IR) microscopes. To expand our capabilities around IR chemical imaging, with applications also other research fields such as soft tissue and biofilm analysis, we decided to acquire a quantum cascade laser-based IR microscope. The Eawag is therefore inviting tenders for the purchase of a new IR chemical imaging system based on quantum cascade laser technology.
