The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has awarded a contract for the supply of diagnostic reagents and in vitro veterinary medical devices across four separate lots for detecting transmissible spongiform encephalopathies in ruminants, including ELISA kits, immunoblot reagent sets, discriminatory test kits, and prion protein genotyping kits, with a total estimated value of 1,749,509.76 BGN. The procurement supports Bulgaria's National Programme for the Prevention, Surveillance, Control and Eradication of Animal Diseases, including Zoonoses for 2025–2027, aimed at protecting animal and human health and ensuring the free movement of animals and food products within the European Union. The award was made on 13 January 2026.
