The municipality of Köngen awarded a service concession to Telekom Deutschland GmbH on 26 May 2026 for the supply and operation of a gigabit broadband network and provision of broadband telecommunications services to underserved addresses in the municipality under the gap-closure programme pursuant to the Gigabit Guidelines 2.0. The concession, valued at €188,865.85, involves the construction and operation of a public communications network with end-user services, supported by federal and state funding under Germany's gigabit expansion programme.
