The Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis awarded a single-phase restricted architectural design competition (RPW 2013) for planning services to design a new fire and rescue station with an integrated information and communication centre in Burscheid. The project, awarded on 23 April 2026 to Auernhammer Wohlrab Architektur, Scope Architekten GmbH, TILLOKAA - Architecture and Urbanism, and pussert kosch architekten PartGmbB, involves approximately 950 m² for the rescue station and 600 m² for the information centre, with functional separation required between the two units while maintaining operational continuity during construction.
