Tampereen kaupunki, Ylöjärven kaupunki ja Tampereen Raitiotie Oy kilpailuttivat yhteishankintana suunnittelukonsultin hankkeelle ”Tampereen raitiotie, Lielahti-Ylöjärvi, hankesuunnitelma”.
Hankinta on jatkoa raitiotien tarkentavalle yleissuunnitelmalle (12.12.2022). Tarkentava yleissuunnitelma on hyväksytty Ylöjärven valtuustossa ja Tampereen kaupunginhallituksessa helmikuussa 2023.
