The City of Hörstel has awarded architectural and engineering services to Hartig/Meyer/Wömpner Architekten BDA (awarded 29 April 2026) for the comprehensive renovation of the Hakenbergschule sports hall to achieve energy efficiency standard EE55. The scope includes structural repairs to the three-field hall with ancillary rooms, tribunal, underground judo spaces, and foyer (total net floor area 2,350 m²), reconfiguration of the retractable tribune section, and planning for assembly use, with provisions to maintain partial operations during construction and estimated total project costs of approximately €5.9 million net.
