Der Zweckverband Abfallwirtschaft Region Hannover betreibt am Standort Hannover-Lahe eine mechanisch-biologische Restabfallbehandlungsanlage (MBA). Der biologischen Behandlung (BA) ist eine mechanische Aufbereitung (MA) vorgeschaltet. Dort erfolgt eine Aufbereitung der Restabfälle mittels Zerkleinerer, Magnetscheider und Trommelsieben. Die vier stationären Trommelsiebmaschinen haben in absehbarer Zeit das Ende ihrer Lebensdauer erreicht, sodass sie ersetzt werden sollen.
