Rijksvastgoedbedrijf has awarded a €83.5 million renovation and revitalization contract to Heijmans Utiliteit B.V. for the Penitentiaire Inrichting Heerhugowaard, covering facility and energy upgrades, security installations, and technical infrastructure across two locations (Amerswiel and Zuyder Bos) in six phased stages. The multidisciplinary project encompasses civil engineering, structural work, electrical and mechanical systems, security technology, ICT infrastructure, interior architecture, and fire safety measures, with detailed phasing and scheduling required to minimize disruption to facility operations.
