Overview
The objective of the Framework Contract is to support EDA and Member States in elaborating the implementation of the CapTech Missiles & Munitions (CapTech M&M) Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) regarding the technological development in AI technologies and how to integrate such into the development of M&M systems.
The framework contract shall provide an overview of which areas within the defined areas of interest of the CapTech are interesting to review deeper and are interesting for AI and ML.
Areas to be examined if suitable are the Technical Building Blocks (TBB’s) from the CapTech SRA:
• Munition Life Management
• Insensitive Munitions
• Fuzing & Ignition Systems
• Precision Guided Munition & Missiles
• High Performance Gun Launch
• Improved Tools and Methods for Qualification & Safety
• ED Detection and Defeat Technologies
• High Performance Energetic Materials
• Improved Warhead and Penetrator Design
• Technologies for Decoying and Obscuring
• New Production Technologies for Munition Components
• Education & Training
• High performance missile propulsion
The list of TBB’s is a starting point but not an absolute list that must be strictly followed. Its purpose is to
create a link to the CapTech SRA, obtain engagement from the Cap Tech M&M community and be a
support for the Workshop (hybrid or on-line), which shall be held (see Task 1.5 below).
The result from the framework contract shall support the Member States in planning future usage of AI in
M&M including relevant applications for research and development. Also to:
• Identify collaborative opportunities addressing M&M.
• Support implementation of the relevant Capability Development Priorities by validating technical
options for enhanced autonomy and increased performance that could be considered within the
relevant Priority Implementation Roadmaps
