Das Universitätsklinikum Jena verfügt neben den Krankenversorgungs- und Lehreinrichtungen ebenso über umfangreiche Routinelabor- und Forschungseinrichtungen. Das F3-Laborgebäude ist ein reines Forschungsgebäude nach S2-Standard (GenTG sowie BioStoffV). Für die Sterilisation und Autoklavierung in F3 sind in den Etagen dezentrale Spülküchen installiert und für diese Räume sind 9 vertikale Standautoklaven zu beschaffen.
