Tender for Contract on subsidy for carbon capture, transport and storage

The Danish Energy Agency awarded a subsidy contract to Aalborg Portland A/S for carbon capture, transport, and storage as part of the CCS Fund, with a contract value of 16,159,125,000 DKK awarded on 5 May 2026. Under this contract, the operator must capture and permanently store a fixed annual quantity of CO2 from 2030 through 2044, with the option to begin capture from 1 January 2029, using either point source capture, direct air capture, or a combination thereof. The total available subsidy for the fund was 28,659,200,000 DKK (2025 prices), covering the period 2029–2044, with subsidies paid per tonne of CO2 captured and stored.
