Overview
The National Transport Authority (“NTA”) is progressing with BusConnects Cork, a major investment programme to improve public transport in Cork City. The aim of BusConnects Cork is to deliver an enhanced bus system that is better for the city, its people and the environment. BusConnects Cork is designed to provide a better, more reliable and more efficient bus service for everyone in addition to providing safe cycling and enhanced pedestrian facilities along key routes. This tender competition was for the Provision of Utility Investigation Surveys for BusConnects Cork (South-East). The most economically advantageous tenderer was Apex Surveys Ltd. The duration of this contract shall be until the completion of the works. The estimated value of this contract is €178,000; however, the NTA reserves the right to spend up to €321,000.
Following the assessment of tenders, the NTA has entered into the Multi-Party Framework Agreement with three (3) participants, with that number meeting the minimum quality criteria. Those participants are Apex Surveys Ltd, TST Engineering Ltd and Precision Utility Mapping Ireland. The initial term of the Framework Agreement shall be four (4) years with the option for the NTA to extend on an annual basis for a further four (4) years. The maximum term of the Framework Agreement is eight (8) years. The estimated value of the Framework Agreement is €18,500,000; however, the NTA reserves the right to spend up to €38,750,000 over its maximum term of eight (8) years.
The NTA intends to use this Framework for future Utility Investigation Works on other BusConnects Regional Cities Projects. In addition, the NTA reserves the right to utilise this Framework for other projects undertaken by the NTA including, but not limited to, bus depots, other bus infrastructure, park and ride infrastructure, BusConnects Dublin and road schemes.
