AttoDRY1000 with 9T magnet and basic insert for SDU

Overview
For the purposes of our research, we require a system capable of performing under the following
conditions:
• Magnetic Field: Up to 9 Tesla
• Temperature: Down to 4 Kelvin and below
• Sample Environment: Precise temperature control achievable through the introduction of an
inert exchange gas in the sample compartment
• Optical Access: Minimization of thermal radiation via a cryogenically cooled microscope
objective
• Integration Capability: Flexible sample space positioning to facilitate integration with our existing
scanning Near-Field Optical Microscope (sNOM)
• Operational Stability: Mechanical stability of the positioning system under high magnetic fields
and cryogenic temperatures.
We have conducted a comprehensive market survey to assess the availability of alternative suppliers
capable of meeting these specific technical requirements and have retained all documentation related to
this process. Based on this assessment, only the system provided by the company attocube systems AG
fulfills all criteria. It is the sole commercially available solution that offers optical access at magnetic fields
up to 9 T while maintaining sample temperatures down to 4 K. Moreover, it is the only system where the
sample is mounted on an insert that can be introduced into the cryostat, allowing for the use of exchange
gas. The design also permits external measurements with the insert outside the cryostat.
Attocube's Apochromat objective is currently the only low-temperature-compatible objective on the
market. Competing cryogenic systems frequently rely on Attocube’s Apochromat objective and its
positioning systems, further underscoring the uniqueness of the solution.
Furthermore, the sNOM instrument in use at the Faculty of Engineering at SDU is manufactured by
NeaSpec GmbH, a company owned by attocube systems AG. NeaSpec shares intellectual property,
technical design, and engineering expertise with attocube. This ensures optimal compatibility between
both high-precision systems and facilitates efficient technical integration and support.
In conclusion, attocube systems AG is the only supplier capable of delivering a system that fully meets
our scientific, technical specifications, and budget. We have nonetheless ensured that the terms of
acquisition reflect sound financial judgment and serve the best interests of SDU and Danish taxpayers.
Based on the market coverage, there is only one supplier who can deliver the desired equipment.
